Responsible gambling and help in Kenya

Crash games are fast. A hundred rounds take under an hour, and the design rewards playing on. These are the tools that put the brakes back in your hands, and where to turn if they are not enough.

Before you play

  • Decide the budget first, deposit exactly that, and set the operator’s deposit limit to match. Every Kenya-licensed operator must offer limits under the Gambling Control Act 2025.
  • Decide when you will stop: a loss amount, a win amount, or a time. Write it down if that helps.
  • Use auto cash-out. It takes the decision out of the moment.
  • Never play to win back a loss. A loss is the normal cost of a game with a 3% edge; it does not need recovering.

Tools at the operator

Deposit limits. Daily, weekly or monthly caps you set in account settings. Increases usually take effect after a cooling-off period; decreases are immediate.

Time-outs. A short break, from a day to a few weeks, during which you cannot log in.

Self-exclusion. A longer block, typically six months or more, that the operator cannot lift early at your request.

Reality checks and session timers. Some platforms (Spotika highlights them) show elapsed time and net result during play.

If you cannot find these in your operator’s app, ask support; being unable to offer them is a licence condition failure.

Spotika’s relaunched platform makes these tools unusually easy to find; see Aviatrix on Spotika.

Signs it has stopped being a game

  • Playing with money meant for something else.
  • Chasing losses, or increasing stakes to feel the same thing.
  • Hiding play from people close to you.
  • Looking for predictors, hacks or signals to win back losses.
  • Feeling restless or low when not playing.

Any one of these is a reason to stop and talk to someone.

Free, confidential help in Kenya

  • Befrienders Kenya: +254 722 178 177 (call or SMS). Emotional support.
  • one2one Kenya: 1190 (free call or SMS). Confidential support line.
  • Gaming Awareness Society of Kenya (GASK): gamaware.org. Peer support, recovery training and gambling-blocking software for at-risk players.

A doctor or counsellor is also a good first call. Problem gambling responds to the same kinds of help as other compulsive behaviours.

For family and friends

You cannot make someone stop, but you can refuse to fund it, keep your own finances separate, and point them to the lines above. GASK runs sessions for families as well as players.
